The Prophet Adineas the Red is dead.

Several days ago, the Prophet returned from the Amon Sancutary peace negotiations. In light of the critical condition of the nation due to the anti-Church movement, Adineas had a grand sermon organised in Red Throne. The purpose of this sermon was clear: to restore the faith of the public in the Red Messiah, and thus their faith in the Divine Church of the Crimson Hand. The Sermon attracted roughly 50,000 people, and was held in front of the Grand Cathedral of the Saviour of Humanity, the site of the first major demonstrations against Church authority.

The Sermon began at noon yesterday. Adineas addressed the anti-Church movement and the Magnificent Descent of the Red Messiah. He urged that only through worship of His Name could the current problems facing the nation be resolved. The Prophet urged that the Magnificent Descent was imminent, and those who had refused His Name would be judged.

As Prophet Adineas reached the climax of his speech, outlining the utopia that could be expected by the faithful, two shots rang out in rapid succession. The first shot struck Adineas in the head, causing him to collapse immediately. The second shot was also presumably intended for the Prophet, but missed as Adineas fell to the ground.

A scream erupted from the crowd, and it desperately rushed out of the area, injuring several. As this happened, Adineas' body was taken into the Cathedral by his paladin bodyguards.

It is widely suspected that a sniper, possibly working for the Red Throne soviet or a foreign power, took the shots from a neighbouring church.
The Inquisitorial Guard burst into action immediately, leading to the arrests of over 400 people, mainly those in the front of the crowd, and those around the church where the shots are suspected to have come from. A curfew was set in place instantly, requiring all civilians to return home immediately.

While the Divine Church has not announced the death of its Prophet, most agree that it is impossible that he survived the wound.

The Church leadership held an emergency meeting to decide upon a successor to Adineas. The discussion was said to be heated and confused. With the death of the Prophet, humanity's only purported direct connection to the Red Messiah has been lost.

This morning, the successor to Adineas the Red was announced by the Church. Primate Terril is to become the new head of the Divine Church of the Crimson Hand. He is expected to take office tomorrow.

The Red Throne soviet, which is suspected by many to be behind the plot, has not made a statement on the assassination.

The assassin's bullet may spell doom for the Church. The Church has been destabilised, and enjoys only limited military and public support. Even the succession of Primate Terril is reported to be very controversial within the Church leadership.

The events of the next week will be absolutely critical in determining the future of our nation. Let us all hope that history is not written in the blood of Sirdovia.

At this time, I would like to make an official statement on the matter. After the assassination, celebrations erupted throughout the cities of Agrando, as this is an important step taken by rebels against the evil Disgusting Church of the Crimson Hand. We, the Agrandan government, are saddened by the loss of life, but taking into consideration that the Prophet was a tainted, soulless oppressive dictator, we feel that his death was not only necessary, but well deserved. We now must focus on Sirdovia's future, as we would all, I'm sure, like it to become an illustrious, developed and respected nation.

[Primate Terril, Divine Church of the Crimson Hand]

The action of the Braddian soldiers in Riglen is both a cause for celebration for the faithful, but also concern.
The reasons for the celebration are twofold.
Firstly, Riglen was a known stronghold of the blasphemous soviets, and to have these traitors to His Name purged from the Holy Land is a great service to both Our Lord and to Humanity.
Second, the righteous zeal with which the soldiers purged the town is a leading example to our own servicemen. The zeal with which this heroic purge of the town in defense of our faith and our nation is truly admirable. the entire town was under the thrall of soviet lies, and is believed to have been active within this soviet. Hence, a total purge was required. The entire town had been tainted by the blasphemy that the people showed, and had to be cleansed with fire.

The children that were saved from the path of corruption are to become Children of the Church. They shall be housed, fed, clothed and educated by the Church as special dependants of the Church.

Though the intentions of the Braddian soldiers were pure, there is a cause for concern highlighted by their actions.That is the fact that the soldiers acted without orders, against citizens of an allied nation. While the initiative shown by the soldiers is admirable, it may reflect a breakdown in Braddian military discipline. Such a breakdown is disastrous, as we are currently seeing in the Divine Imperial Federation. A breakdown in loyalty to the sovereign government of a nation makes the armed forces more susceptible to the lies of traitors and spies seeking to destabilise sovereign rule.

However, the Divine Church of the Crimson Hand finds that the soldiers' hearts are pure. They are hereby offered a place in the Divine Church. They will function as an anti-corruption policing force in the Citizens' Crusade militia, as well as offering frontline support. Let their example be a beacon to all the loyal men and women of Sirdovia! Let us all strive to match the bravery and purity shown by the heroes of Riglen!

The monstrous actions shown by imperialist Braddian soldiers in Riglen serves as a dire warning to all who would think independently of the oppressive, corrupt Church. These inhuman beasts showed that their monstrosity knows no national borders, nor any master. They acted without compassion or mercy. They callously slaughtered two thousand innocent people who wanted nothing more than to exercise their right to participate in a free, open, democratic association.

The Church, while not directly involved, was party to this butchery. They tacitly condoned this barbarism when they allowed the Braddian dogs into the nation without so much as a justification to the people, beyond the regular rhetoric.
The Massacre of Riglen is a gruesome, monstrous reminder to any who dare to exercise their essential sentient rights ("heresy") that the Church considers them unworthy of their own very lives.

This act of war against the People - no, that is not adequate - this extermination cannot and shall not go unanswered. The blood of two thousand innocents shall not have been shed in vain! Every one of them are martyrs for the revolutionary cause! Citizens, soldiers, comrades! Take up arms and join with your soviet! Let us resist this evil, dogmatic, opressive regime! Defend your right! Join the fight! All power to the People!

The Braddian Crown offers refuge for the new leader of Sirdovia, the Crown believes that this is much safer for the leader. The Leader of the Sirdovian people will be treated as the brother of the King.

In further news, the King offers a proposal for royal marrage between the second daughter of the King and the new leader of Sirdovia. This to bring both nations closer.

Another devastating blow came to the Church yesterday, this time from within.
It appears that Primate Terril recently received an invitation from the Braddian crown, allowing him to take refuge in Braddia to eliminate the threat of assassination. Terril accepted, and departed west through Scondovia.

It seems that when a faction in the Church, led by Archbishop Talion, heard of the plan, they decided to take action. Terril's carriage was intercepted en route to the coast, and Terril was captured. Outside his carriage, Terril faced an Inquisitorial Tribunal, and was found guilty of heresy.

Archbishop Talion had this to say:
"Loyal citizens of Sirdovia! Holders of the faith! the one who claimed to be the most pious of us all has revealed himself a scoundrel! Instead of staying with his people and purging the soviet menace, Primate Terril flees to Braddia. He has proven himself a coward, and through his cowardice, a heretic. Where is his faith that Our Lord shall protect him? Where is the evidence that he is willing to fight soviet heresy in His Holy Nation?
Clearly, this man is a heretic and a traitor! His cowardice must not go unpunished! None are above His Divine Justice!"

Primate Terril was subsequently executed with a sword to the chest, the standard, ignoble and shameful method reserved for those labelled heretics.

This morning, Archbishop Talion assumed office at the head of the Church. Sources reveal that Talion was was Terril's main competitor in the power vacuum left by Adineas' death.
Terril's more powerful supporters were found dead in their homes, likely slain on Talion's orders.

BREAKING NEWS:

The soviets of Sirdovia, including Red Throne, High Watch, Stormguard, Adinia, Saint's Reach and New Dravin, have all voted to claim to be the legitimate government of Sirdovia. This move was backed by most soviet supporters, constituting roughly 65% of the population.

The soviets have come together and formed the Military-Revolutionary Committee, comprising of the leaders of the soviets and representatives elected internally by army soldiers. As stated above, the Military-Revolutionary Committee claims sovereignty over Sirdovia. This is the first direct threat made by the soviets against Church power. With the Church tearing itself apart and the majority of the population on the Committee's side, it seems to be the beginning of the end of Church power.

Thats wierd. Its considered honorable to be taken by the blade here :p
